Letter from home

Dear Minute,

I'm glad you're having fun in Florida, but things aren't too bad here at The Compound. TJL takes good care of us. Lazlo the cat hisses at me, but at night, I get to stay snuggled safely in my crate so he can't get to me.

I ran out of insulin! I thought that meant NO MORE SHOTS. But Mom expected that and prepared for it. TJL got more tonight. But that's the only bad news from here.

Here's Greta being comfy on her blanket.

And here's me, a little disappointed to find only water in our friend Rex's dish.

Then again, Rex eats some weird stuff. Sardines?!?! Turkey necks?!?! Kidneys?!?! I prefer my special diet.

Later, Rex and I got in some playtime outside.

He's being a mighty good host. Greta strolled around the grounds, too. Last week, Rex flushed and killed a possum. Greta's been looking, but she hasn't found one yet. (I don't know what she thinks she could do about it. She's 487 years old.)

Take care of Mom, and don't forget your sunscreen!

Love,

Your big brother, Sparky

P.S. Even Margot and Guinness have been nice to us. Did you know that Aunt B. is working hard on a book that has a DOG NAMED SUE in it? And she looks like our Sue? Even though Greta and I could help her out by telling lots of Sue stories, we won't, because we're on vacation, too!

Where oh where have my dogs gone?

There was all of this hoopla around the house for several days. Saprky said Mom was getting ready to TRAVEL. Suitcases were out and Mom put stuff in them for several days.

Then crates were getting moved and folded up. What does that mean? Then she said the GO word. We all got to go in the car (not poor Rex)! Me, Greta and Sparky jumped and barked and carried on. We all loaded up in the car with crates and food. Riding in the car we all sat together like the angels we are on the backseat.

Then we were at The Compound! Hello Rex! Hello Margot! Hello Guinness! We've come to play. Even Greta!!!

But wait, Mom is not even going inside... Sparky is not happy. Greta is freaking out. Me and Mom are in the car. Wait! Why are they not going with us? Mom says I get to go to VACATION with her!

What is VACATION??? Will Sue be there?

No Buzzness, please!

On a recent trip into the forest to play with the little cottontails I met with a most unpleasant being. I ran, lickity split, to my mom. It was so awful I cried and cried. I am a big girl and I DO NOT cry often. Mom was worried. She finally got me to settle down and found this on me.

One had gotten me right on my eyelid. Mom put something on it and pulled out the hurtie thing. I smelled like a cookie and felt all better.

Mom is my hero!

Electronic (f)EATS

Mom was fussing about the phones. She messed with all the wires I am not allowed to chew on then threw this thing across the room.

That is play time! I grabbed it and ran to my princess spot.

I ate it.

Little Cottontails

There is joy in each morning! Not only do I get to wake Mom, Sparky and Greta, I have new friends that like to play chase. They are the two rabbits that live in the briar patch on the edge of the great forest next to my house.

Every morning the two of my cottontail friends are waiting on the grassy median for our daily romp. I am always IT in our game. We play rain or shine, foggy or clear. Maybe you can see my buddy in this picture.

If only I could catch them...

Nurse Minute Here

WOW!!! My mom had something done to her mouth the other day. She came in from the doctor and slept for 18 hours. I stayed by her side, taking breaks only for food and potty. Sparky helped me guard her room. We growled and barked if anyone came near the door. Mom was not to be bothered!!! She woke up for a few hours and we hung out.

That night she went back to bed but didn't stay there long. She spent a lot of time in the bathroom throwing up. She must've been very sick. I found her sleeping on the floor so I kissed her and licked her face to wake her up. She told me what a good dog I am. Then she called my human brother who came and took her to the hospital. Mom is back home and OK. She tells me I am her HERO for waking her up when she "passed out."

Maybe she should try eating grass. It works for me, Greta and Sparky.

Profile in courage.

Life In the BIG City

Oh, what is a princess to do!!!! We have new humans in our house and Mom has been out of town. It is summer and I should be relaxing on a Florida or Hawaiian beach. But I am here enjoying my friends. Sue is such fun. She was over here the other day sleeping in a fancy chair (that I am not allowed to chew on). I was in my princess seat (the stool) beside her. She slid out of the chair, hit my seat, and sent me flying across the room! I don't think she woke up.

Bethel and Tiffy are staying in my house. They are fun and funny. Tiffy plays with me a lot. She says she likes cats best. I am not sure what that means.

My motto: Play more, worry less.
